Tuesday Evening FAQ
Where do the groups meet?
We have the opportunity of meeting together in the comfort of our homes and enjoy a relaxed, informal environment. Generally the group leaders take turns hosting, so our location may change from week to week.
How do I know where the group meets?
The group leaders send an email each week letting you know the home and address of where the group will be meeting the following week. If you have questions, need directions or a ride, please let one of the group leaders know. We know it can be intimidating to arrive at someone’s house you don’t know, so please reach out. We’d love to meet you, pick you up or carpool with you, so you don’t have to go alone.
Is this something I can bring my children to?
There is no childcare provided for our Tuesday evening group, however, babies in arms are always welcome. Sometimes an evening away from home without children is just what we need, but we know that can be challenging to coordinate and we don't want to keep you from coming. If you are unable to arrange childcare certain evenings, please come even if you need to leave early or bring a little one so we can stay connected. If you have questions, please contact the Tuesday Evening Leadership Team at [email protected] so we can best meet your needs.
What do most women wear?
Please come in whatever you are comfortable wearing. Many of us have changed out of work clothes for the day, come from the gym or have cared for children and are dressed quite comfortably.
What should I bring?
You are welcome to just bring yourself and enjoy sharing and connecting with other women. We encourage you to bring a bible if you have one, the book our group is studying and something to write down notes or prayer requests as these tools will enhance our discussion.
It was a really busy day and I’m running late, should I still come?
Yes, we know evenings can get unexpectedly busy, but know that you are always welcome anytime.
It was a really busy week and I didn’t get a chance to read any of the Bible study for my group. Should I still come?
Yes! We know that some weeks are hard and we totally understand if you don’t complete the reading. We have found we get more out of studying the Bible by thinking about it and reading throughout the week. We hope that you try to do as much as you can, but don’t let a busy week keep you away!
Can you tell me what happens during group?
Group is an amazing time to connect with other women on a more personal level by sharing, supporting, and praying for one another. The first part of group we spend socializing and sharing updates about what is going on in our lives. We discuss the books our group is reading together and end our time by sharing prayer requests and praying for each other. Small groups are comprised of women who all choose the same books to study when they complete registration.
I don’t know much about the Bible, is it okay that I come? What if I’m not even sure I believe that it is true?
Yes! We love that you are here. There is no requirement that you know about the Bible. This is a place where it is safe to explore issues of faith, share about your life, ask hard questions and search for answers. If you are looking for support in finding answers or searching for ways to grow in your faith, please talk to your small group leader. We are here for you and would love to support you however we can.
Will it offend people if I ask questions?
This is a place that you are invited and encouraged to ask questions. The women who attend come from a variety of different backgrounds, beliefs and denominations. We can’t promise that we will have answers, but we will do our best to share with you what we have learned and help you search for those things that we don’t know as we grow together.
My sister, friend, mother is visiting, is it ok if I bring her with me?
Yes! We are happy to have female guests and enjoy meeting the important people in your life.
I have a friend I would like to bring. Is that okay?
We would love for you to invite your friends! Please keep in mind that Side By Side is primarily for medical and dental wives or female significant others, so we ask that any friends you invite are also in a medical marriage or relationship. If you are looking for a good Bible study for a friend who isn't a medical or dental wife, please let us know and we can provide suggestions.
Do you meet year-round?
We follow the Rochester Public School District calendar meeting weekly from around Labor Day through Memorial Day, taking breaks over major holidays.
What if there's a blizzard on Tuesday?
Safety is important to us. In the case of inclement winter weather, group will be cancelled at the discretion of the group leaders. We will send out an email if group is canceled for any reason.
